Cleghorn gets appeal
Convicted New Zealand rapist Graham Cleghorn, who is
serving a 20-year jail term in Phnom Penh, has
been granted an appeal in Cambodia.
Bangkok-based New Zealand
consul Lyndal Walker said the appeal has been scheduled for December 7.
Cleghorn, 60, formerly of Wellington, claims he
is innocent of rape and has accused a Cambodian women's group of using
extortion to have foreigners jailed for sexually abusing young girls. He also
claims he has been framed by powerful interests who want his valuable land,
located on the edge of the Angkor Wat temple complex.
