Lawyer wants intervention in rape case

A Wellington lawyer is urging the government to intervene in the case of a New Zealander convicted of rape in Cambodia.

Former Petone man Graham Cleghorn was sentenced to 20 years jail last year after he was found guilty of raping five colleagues.

Wellington lawyer Greg King says Cambodian court documents show Cleghorn's trial was seriously flawed.

King says the Government should step in to make sure Cleghorn's rights are being upheld.

He says Cleghorn's health is failing and his family is very concerned.
